Welcome!

WATCHFUL CONFIDENCE
We, the Church, enter into Advent and the new liturgical year with a call for a
watchful confidence. Our readings were originally addressed to communities undergoing great loss and confusion. Jeremiah speaks confidently of God fulfilling the ancient promises to Israel, even during a time of foreign invasion. Paul speaks of God leading the Church into holiness, while the community longs for the coming of Jesus. In the Gospel passage from Luke, Jesus speaks of powerful signs and of great confusion to come, but emphasizes that we may look forward knowing that God brings not cause for despair, but hope. We celebrate Advent to remind each other of God’s faithfulness. We are to be watchful, to see how God is stirring up our world. God disturbs both our pride and our complacency, and brings us healing and justice. We prepare ourselves to welcome Jesus, confident that God indeed fulfills all these divine promises.

POINSETTIAS
Christmas Memorial & Tributes

St. Bernardines Parish invites you to make a gift of a Christmas poinsettia this season dedicated to the memory of or in thanksgiving for loved ones.  Poinsettias will adorn our worship space on or before December 22 through the end of Christmas with the Feast of the Baptism of Our Lord on Sunday, January 9, 2022. A contribution of $12 or more is being asked for each tribute. Funds received in excess of actual costs will be put towards the church environment. Poinsettias will be available for pick-up after January 9.

To request a poinsettia, please mail or bring in the form with payment (checks payable to St. Bernardine) to our Parish Office by Friday, 12/17.  You can also drop off your forms and payment in the Sunday collection baskets or order online through our Parish website at Online Giving.  If ordering online, you still need to turn in a form with your memorial or tribute message. For any questions, contact our Parish Office.

ADOPT A FAMILY

St. Bernardine's Parish is participating in the Adopt A Family Program with the Guadalupe Center.  The center is requesting donations for their annual Christmas program. Our parishioners have been major contributors for the past 30 years providing needy families and homeless people with gift cards so that they can have a merry Christmas. Toys (ages 5-12) are also requested for the children's Christmas Party.

A table will be set up in front of the church after Masses on Sunday 11/28, 12/5, and 12/12 to provide information and to collect toys, gift cards or monetary donations.  Donations can also be dropped off in the Parish Office. Please make any checks out to: Guadalupe Center.  Thank you for your support!
