Stephen Ministry
Laymen and women, who have developed their care giving abilities by training and
experience, are available to visit parishioners in crisis.
The visits are one-on-one, man-to-man or woman-to-woman. The 50-hour
training course comes from the national organization of Stephen Ministries in
St. Louis, MO
People who benefit from the ministry may be experiencing the
stresses of grief, loneliness, illness, divorce, family or relationship
problems, and so on.
Stephen Ministers are trained to listen. They do not give
advice. They are not degreed counselors, but they do maintain the
confidentiality of any caring professional.
If you, or someone you know needs a willing ear to unburden
yourself of your troubles, call the parish office for the phone number of the
Stephen Ministry coordinator. Her goal will then be to connect you with a
Stephen Minister within 48 hours.
