Twelve Crosses and Candles

The anointing of the Church signifies that it is given over entirely and perpetually to Christian worship. Twelve anointings are made on the walls marked by these crosses in accordance with liturgical tradition, signifying that the church is an image of the holy city of Jerusalem. The festive lighting of the altar candles and the twelve dedication candles of the worship space after the anointing and incensation of the Church is a sign of rejoicing in Christ who is the way, the truth and the life. The Church's task is to convey the truth, revealed in and by Christ , to whole world. Jesus Christ is the light of the world who has enlightened us brought His word and baptism.

"Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men."
