Liturgical Furnishings play an essential role in the
worship experience. It is in worship that the faithful encounter the God
of al creation in the most profound way. In the liturgy we come to find nourishment
for our journey of faith.
Painting of Christ the Teacher or Pantocrator
"I am the Alpha and the Omega." says the Lord
God. (Rev. 1:8), "...who is and who was and who is to come, the
Almighty." The oldest representation of Christ Pantocrator (Christ
the Teacher) is found in the Rabula Manuscript of 586. In the early
Middle Ages, the Pantocrator looks out from domes and apses of
cathedrals over the expanse of the church. Christ is shown frontally and
in half-figure, the right hand raised in benediction and in the left
hand a Gospel Book. The letters IC XC spell out "Iesous Khristos", the
Greek shortened form of Christ’s name. More on these icons at
