- Go, therefore, and make disciples of all
nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the
holy Spirit,
- teaching them to observe all that I have
commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age."
Matthew
28:19-20
Congratulation on your new baby!
We look forward to celebrating your
child's entry into the Church through the Sacrament of Baptism.
Ceremony:
Baptisms are performed, outside of
Mass, every first and third Sundays of the month at 1:30pm.
Please call the Parish Office (818)
888-8200 to schedule your date.
Baptisms are performed in group of no
more than 8 babies. The ceremony lasts an average of 30 minutes.
If you opt for full immersion instead
of pouring, we need to get advance notice to heat the water of the baptismal
font.
Godparents:
Church Law requires at least one godparent who is a
practicing Catholic. Most people choose two.
Preparation:
Parents and Godparents are required
to attend a baptism preparation class. It can be done in any parish. Ours are on
the second Thursday of every month at 7:30pm. If the class has been taken within
the last 3 years, it is not required to take it again.
Age:
Once a child turns 6, it is necessary
they attend Religious Education classes.
Baptism of adults are done during the
Easter Vigil, after participation in the RCIA program.
Donations:
A donation to the Church is customary, but not a
requirement. Commonly, people give an average of $25 to $100.
